Intern Magazine — Issue 01

We were asked by Editor-in-chief Alec Dudson to design and art-direct the magazine, and to help develop intern into a recognisable brand. We approached the design with a light touch, supporting the content rather than competing with it.

Key words and subjects were emphasised using bold and italic cuts, bringing visual intrigue and creating a typographic hierarchy. We also developed a bespoke typeface, ‘Métier’, to further enhance the look. The issue was printed on a variation of papers, both coated and uncoated, creating a tactile feel and allowing us to showcase photography on the best medium.

Other aspects of this project included a website, screen printed tote bags, a digital iPad edition (available on the app store) and overseeing launch events in London and Manchester.
